Dr. Erica Heathersby is the last person Spencer Mattox, ex-band member of Zenith, should ever be attracted to. When Erica offers Spencer a job, he resents her for it, because she is successful in her career, her life, and as a person, in ways Spencer believes he can never be. But Erica soon finds her medical practice the target of political debate, and herself the target of someone's violent desires. Erica turns to Spencer for protection, which develops into a relationship that neither of them is prepared for. Erica knows that in order to keep Spencer from destroying what they have built together; she has to overcome the devastating past he tries to hide. But then again, none of it will matter, if Erica doesn't survive what is fast becoming someone’s deadly intention towards her.

Zenith Rising Zenith Trilogy #2 edition by Leanne Davis Literature Fiction eBooks

I have become a Leanne Davis junkie quite literally. I'm never disappointed by any of her books. This second installment of the Zenith trilogy was even better than the first. Dr Erica first met Spencer when he was parading around as a scary looking rocker keyboard player for Zenith known as Spike, so when she comes face to face with him later she doesn't recognize him. Their story will take you on an emotional roller coaster ride. Spencer and Erica are such polar opposites socially, economically and psychologically but their chemistry is volatile and explosive. Spencer's a broken man, deeply wounded by a disturbing childhood so his attitudes and angry persona is hard to deal with. Erica can't help but love him and she's got the patience of Job to a point and she is determined to heal him or die trying... quite literally because she's being threatened and tormented by an unknown psychotic maniac. It's hard to say much more without spoilers. This was classic Leanne Davis writing grabbing onto your heart and squeezing. This story had romance and edgy suspense, and definitely made me feel every emotion the characters evoked. Can be read as a standalone with no problems but knowing where they started out in the first book I recommend reading the whole story from the beginning.

Zenith Rising Zenith Trilogy #2 edition by Leanne Davis Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

Zenith Rising was a good read. I never read the first book and had no problems with previous characters and or their relationships in this book. I have to say that this book is one that doesn’t have a lot going on and yet you can’t stop reading; it’s very refreshing in a way. It started off a little slow but it doesn’t take long for you to enjoy the characters and their bluntness and feistiness. There are moments when you think you know who did what and what’s going to happen but the author shocks you and I will most likely read the next book in the series.
Erica and Spencer’s story wow what can I say I am a emotional basket case! What Spencer went through when we was just 13 and why he wouldn’t let love in! Erica aka the doc can she change spencer and let love in?
This book is a fantastic mix of romance with some suspense. It was a delight to read Erica and Spenser's story. While this book can be read as a stand alone, it is a great sequel to the first book and I'm looking forward to seeing what Rob does when he gets his own story in book 3.
This book was REALLY good. Wow..i enjoyed reading this from start to finish. Firstly, let me say that I loved the role reversal ( in terms of rich/ poor and accomplished vs unaccomplished). the author captured what a strong woman the heroine really is. She needed someone in her life but was in no way prepared to accept second class treatment because of this. Oh, if all of us could be this way. Secondly, the book has enough drama, so I am happy how her family was portrayed. The sex scenes were good but I would have loved reading more about the Hero's view on hte intimate scenes. Overall, four deserved stars.
Unbelievably great read!!! I loved this as much if not more than book 1...I've never wanted to reach through a book and choke someone like I did with Spencer!!! I honestly thought he'd never come around!!! I cannot say enough about Leanne Davis books...they are everything!!! Dark, dangerous, suspense, funny, sexy as sin, love, anger, abuse, addiction, etc. I could not and did not put it down!!! Now on to book 3!!! Cheers!!!
I was kind of impressed with Erica. She realized what she felt about Spencer was more than she'd felt with anyone else and she wasn't about to give up on him. She is strong, capable, nurturing, and is an overall great person. I loved both of those characters in the last book, but we got to see so much more of them here. Spencer is a great person, but so broken. He deserves happiness, but tends to push it away. I think Erica went further than anyone else to prove she was in Spencer's corner, and he was her protector.
This author drives me crazy. I have her release dates written on my calendar. I count down the days till her next book and look so forward to that release day that no other book interest me until I get it and read it. And, I can honestly say I am never disappointed once I get that book. Her books are guaranteed emotional messes. They hook you into the lives of the characters she is writing about right from the start. And given some of the characters you’d not think that was possible. But what a person shows on the outside is not always what is on the inside. She does not write formalistic books where the heroine is the one that always needs saving. Sometimes it’s the man that has gone through so much pain and grief in his life that he is full of nothing put self pity with a sense of being useless and using rage to defect anyone from getting close. That describes the male lead of Zenith Rising, Spencer Mattox.

When we met Spencer in the first book he was Spike, a gothic dressed, hair spiked looking freak that wrote music and played the keyboards for the band Zenith. But that was just another of his ways of deflecting anyone seeing the true man underneath. Spencer and Rob, the lead singer of the now disbanded band, grew up next door to each other and both had crappy childhoods. They took off on their own when Spencer was just 13. These two were each other’s lifeline and they went on to create Zenith together and also watched it implode and Rob become an alcoholic and lose everything. As Rob had taken care of Spencer for so many years when the time came he returned the favor by getting Rob into treatment and breaking up the bad. Spencer, during this time, also decided he was tired of the Spike persona and went back to being Spencer to get a job to be able to support him and Rob. During the first book Spencer had run ins with Dr Erica Heathersby who had become Joelle ,his friend and Rob’s ex wife’s best friend who got her out of the unhealthy relationship of being married to Rob. When they meet again Erica doesn’t even recognize Spencer with his newfound change.

Dr. Erica Heathersby what a interesting female character. She was from old family money but chose to be a Dr and a very dedicated one who sometimes gets a little too involved in the caring of her patients. If she sees something broken its like a obsession with her to try and fix it and that includes people. Spencer and Erica are the furthest thing away from two people you would ever think would be attracted to each other but that spark is there from the start. Oh it was not an easy road for these two, Spencer fought it for all it was worth but yet at the same time he was always looking out for her as she had become a target from a few different sources.

I felt along with Erica through the whole story that Spencer was worth saving even when he was such an ass and said cruel things as a defense mechanism to make sure no one ever got close to him. This was another beautifully written story of overcoming ones past and learning that it does not define you and you are worthy of love.
